Vehicle-to-Vulnerable Road User (V2VRU) Safety Systems

V2VRU establishes a direct peer-to-peer safety bubble between moving vehicles and vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooters). Operating over direct cellular sidelink and UWB, it alerts drivers to hidden pedestrians blocked behind parked delivery vans.

Zonal Control Units & TSN Ring

  • ETSI TS 103 300 VRU Awareness Processor
  • Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Time-of-Flight Engine
  • Pedestrian Intent & Trajectory Estimator
  • Zonal Brake-by-Wire Emergency Interlock
  • Low-Power Smartphone BLE / PC5 Receiver

Why Vehicle Cameras and Radars Fail to Protect Blind-Corner Pedestrians

Line-of-sight sensors like cameras and LiDAR cannot penetrate solid brick walls, fences, or parked delivery trucks. When a pedestrian steps into a crosswalk from behind an obstruction, vehicles travelling at 50 km/h have zero reaction time. V2VRU transmits radio signals that diffract around obstacles, alerting vehicles seconds before physical visual contact occurs.
